Byron Bay is probably the feral capital of Australia.
The most eastern point on the mainland is a magnet for tourists, many of whom come to see the legendary waves at "The Pass", many just to go to a nice beach.
Apart from the people, the dolphins are pretty friendly and a kayaking tour is a good way to see them.
The sidewalks and those that walk them are entertainment on their own for a few hours. You can dine al fresco and watch the world pass while across the road shops display their colourful wares.
