"Emerald Lake" Yoho National Park Things to Do Tip by sunnywong

Yoho National Park Things to Do: 104 reviews and 203 photos

If you are looking for a glacial lake, surrounding by high mountains within easy access of the Trans-Canada highway, Emerald Lake is ideal. Located at the end of a paved secondary road 6 km from Field, Emerald Lake is one of the more developed sites in Yoho Park. It has all what you might expect from the Rockies, including canoeing, hiking, picnicking, horseback riding and fishing. But the first thing that strikes you about Emerald Lake is its deep turquoise colour --even the shallow water is tinted.

The Emerald Lake Road leads from the Trans-Canada highway to the center of activity by the lake-side restaurant and accommodations. Try a stroll around the lake or to Hamilton falls.
