Royal Thai Cuisine, San Diego: 4 reviews and 3 photos

  In The Gaslamp Quarter
by lmkluque

A small restaurant on the corner of Fifth Avenue and J Street. We stopped here to have lunch before going to the Hilton Gallery to see the San Diego exhibition of "here is new york: a democracy of photographs" The inside dining room seemed cozy and spacious at the same time. Of course we ate outside in the narrow gated area, as that is always my choice.

They also have a location in La Jolla:
737 Pearl Street
La Jolla, CA 92037
(858) 551-THAI

Seems that the La Jolla restaurant has closed. So their other locations now are:

4001 West Pacific Coast Hwy. Newport Beach, CA 92663.
(949) 645-THAI
1750 South Pacific Coast Hwy. Laguna Beach, CA 92651.
(949) 494-THAI

On their website they generously offer a few delicious recipes.

This too has changed. Now they offer cooking classes at the Newport Beach location on Mondays. So if in that area you might consider taking a class.

Favorite Dish: The lunch menu offers sixteen items starting at $7.95 for Vegetarian, $8.95 for chicken, pork or beef added. $9.95 for Shrimp, calamari or roast duck added.

My aunt had the Phat Thai Noodles, not very spicy and I had Rama, triple spicey. The delicious flavor pleased us both. The cook will make your meal as spicy as you like and the service was very friendly accommodating, which I always like.
