Cawdor Castle dates back to the 14th century and is often linked to Shakespeare and Macbeth. It is still inhabited today by its owners who open it up to visitors during the day to help raise money for the keeping of the castle. It is really strange to be walking through the rooms and to see the TV hidden away in a cupboard and the books and magazines on the table that the inhabitants have been reading.

The surroundings are also very nice with three big gardens, one of them featuring a holly maze, and there is a large woodland area along a river where you can go on nature trails.
