Unique Suggestions: Accept the genre for what it is and just go with the flow. Also be happy that you are providing employment for a lot of local people.
Fun Alternatives: Alternative #1. Check newspapers for fundraiser ones by churches or hula groups. These are a lot more fun, although the food can be challenging.
Alternative #2. Great Hawaiian food is available at Ono's, 726 Kapahulu Avenue (long lines but worth the wait). It is heavy on carbohydrates and enthusiastically unapologetic about meat...be prepared!
