"Avoca village" County Wicklow Tourist Trap Tip by orlikins

Avoca village, 6 miles from Arklow. The English TV series 'Ballykissangel' was filmed here and now Avoca village has more souvenir shops than actual 'normal' shops, all plugging Ballykissangel. All there is to Avoca is a bridge, 2 pubs, a church, web cafe, a take away and 3 or 4 souvenir shops. It's popular with British tourists who want to say 'oh, I drank in the pub in Ballykissangel' but the actual village of Avoca isnt anything special. Personally I think the locals have spoiled the village with all this "Ballykissangel" junk.
