The first time that I saw this area of Paris was with a colleague who has taken it upon herself to be my tour guide whilst I'm here - Merci beaucoup Agnès!!!.

It's one of the hubs of Paris, at the end of the Champs Elysées, and from the Obelisk you have a marvellous view of L'Arc de Triomphe... If you turn a little to the left you will see a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower... turning a little more to the left and you'll see Musée L'Orangerie, Jardin des Tuileries, then Jeu de Paume... Keep turning around and you'll see glimpses of towers and turrets of various other famous places...

I am always astounded about the distances between places - everything is just so close together... You leave one place, and one minute later you're at another place! Amazing!

One of the best times to be at Place de la Concorde is late afternoon - the colours on the Obelisk are spectacular.
