  Kaikoura - Whale watching

Kaikoura is situated on the East coast of the Southern Island, about 130 km Southwards Blenheim. In former days it was an important whaling centre. Now it’s the place to be for whale watching and dolphin encounters. We booked for a 30 minutes flight with a twin-engined aircraft. The aircraft has a on GPS technology based whale detecting device on board, which guaranties success almost to 100%. Due to strict regulations, not disturbing the whales, the pilot must keep a minimum altitude, which is still too high for good visual observation. So all my pictures failed. This one is downloaded from the web and I’m sorry for that.
