Favorite thing:
Learn a little about Glaciers:
Of the world's total supply of fresh water, 80% is in ice & snow (97% of which is in Antarctica & Greenland).
Glaciers started off as snow & over time gets compressed to firn. 10 m of fresh snow makes 1 m of firn. Firn turns to ice. Ice avalanches from glaciers account for an average of 2 deaths per annum in Switzerland. Owing to movement of these glaciers, the masts of ski lifts often have to be repositioned 3/4 times a year.
Switzerland's most extensive & highest glacial regions are in Valais & the Bernese Alps, most of which are receding.
The original sea of ice (many millennia ago) has left behind about 140 glaciers! The total area of all the Swiss glaciers is 1556 sq km / 601 sq miles.
3 largest glaciers (all in Valais):

Aletsch Glacier (Area = 117.5 sq km / 45 sq miles, Length = 23.6 km / 15 miles). Longest in Europe!

Gorner Glacier at Zermatt (Area = 63.7 sq km / 25 sq miles, Length = 14.5 km / 9 miles).

Fiesch Glacier (Area = 39 sq km / 15 sq miles, Length = 14.7 km / 9 miles).
