<BR><b>HIROSHIMA CASTLE:</b> Here is where the history of Hiroshima begins. In 1589, lord Terumoto Mori began building a new castle in the Ota-gawa River delta & named this area Hiroshima (lit. a wide island). 2 years later, the castle was completed & he moved in.
<BR>On Aug. 6, 1945, the original castle was destroyed by the atomic bomb blast. The present tower is a reconstruction (1958) & houses historic artifacts.

Directions: <BR>21-1 Moto-machi, Naka-ku.
<BR>To get there by bus, get off at Hiroshima Bus Center or the Kamiya-cho stop. By Streetcar, get off at Kamiya-cho, then proceed north about 15 mins on foot.
