"Visit Clovelly." United Kingdom Things to Do Tip by worldkiwi

This is part of the very well beaten tourist trail through the south-west of England. However, if you pick the day right (spring is a good time), you'll probably avoid the dreaded crowds.
Clovelly is an authentic village, but is privately owned (a bit like an estate, but minus the big house). Therefore, you have to pay to enter it. Apparently there is free public right of way, but the 'Scicillian' locals will spot you trying to avoid the information centre entrance if you park in the carpark in front of it and come after you! If you are walking along the coastal walkway, I reakon you can get into the village without paying.
However, saying this, the 3.50 entry fee is quite reasonable. That covers your parking and gets you entry. The village is very picturesque, but if you're not so able or unfit, you'll find the walk through it a challenge. If you can get down to the harbour, but can't face the walk/climb back, there is a landrover to take you, for 1. The walk is better - the views are great.

Address: Devon - on the far west coast.
