City Hall is the government building for New York and has been since the early 1800's.

Either side of the hall is an interactive video centre with information for visitors.

Here in this building Abraham Lincolns coffin was placed on its way to Illinois for burial.

Behind City Hall is the Tweed Courthouse. This building was built in 1872 and cost millions of dollars. In fact the leader of the Democracts at the time a William Tweed was embezzling the City of New York by millions of dollars. He ended up in the penitentiary on Roosevelt Island which I think at the time was called Welfare Island.
