"Williamstown " Williamstown Tip by keeweechic

Williamstown, Melbourne: 5 reviews and 6 photos

Williamstown is one of Melbourne's secret places of the past. It's only 30 minutes' drive west from the city or you can take a ferry from Southbank. Sitting on the western side of Port Phillip Bay, Williamstown retains much of its 19th-century architecture and is still a maritime town, with many boat builders and sailing clubs.

There is nothing nicer than wandering down the old charm of the main street. Great restaurants and cafes as well as historical memorabilia. I've also had some great ice creams along this strip. There is a craft market every 3rd Sunday of the month (Commonwealth Reserve, Nelsons Pl).

From the city, take Footscray Rd, then follow the signs to Williamstown, or catch a ferry from Southgate.
