Edinburgh?s prominent and famous Castle dominates the skyline with fabulous views across the Old and New Towns of the city. The Castle was built on an extinct volcanic outcrop and over the years was modified and added by various Kings and Queens of Scotland which created a real architectural mixture of palace, fortress, barracks, chapel and war memorial.

Edinburgh Castle houses a number of military museums including the Scottish United Services Museum and is home to the Scottish National War Memorial and the world-famous 'One O'clock' gun. Each year in August, Edinburgh Castle holds an annual outdoor military spectacular ?The Military Tattoo? which includes military bands, display teams, dancers and acts from all around the world.
