Axamer Lizum is located above the town of Axams, which is 9km (6 miles) from Innsbruck. Along with Igls, Axamer Lizum was a major centre for the Innsbruck Olympics of 1964 and 1976. In fact, Axamer Lizum was purposely built for the 1964 Winter Olympic Games. The ski area suits all standards but there is no resort as such, with most skiers staying in Innsbruck, although there is a four star slope side hotel.

The traditional and very pretty village of Axams is found on a sunny table above the Inn valley. It also sits below the ski area.

Directions: 9 kilometres out from Innsbruck
