"San Miniato al Monte " Basilica Di San Miniato al Monte Tip by keeweechic

Just up the hill beyond the piazzale is the famous Tuscan Romanesque church San Miniato al Monte (begun 1090). The steps not only allow a great view of Florence, but also close-up of the beautiful coloured marble facade.

The interior with both its architectural detailing and marble floor is Romanesque but Renaissance works also can be found in the chapels off the nave.

The atmosphere becomes very medieval when Gregorian chants are sung here.
