Pension Columbia: "Pension Columbia" Vienna Hotel Tip by DesertRat
Vienna Hotels: 544 reviews and 659 photos
Vienna hotels and pensions are NOT cheap, though not as bad as London. Currently -- according to the web site -- rooms range between US $65 and $95 for a double, $40 - $60 for a single.
Unique Qualities: Centrally located, just a 5 minute tram ride away from the Schottentor Metro stop on the Ringstrasse, the Columbia is a very pleasant, well-run establishment. Bedrooms are large, have very, very high ceilings, and the beds are comfy (see pic). Few rooms have private toilet facilities, though most have a wash-basin and maybe a shower stall. If you can live without the toilet, it's a great place to hang your hat.
As for breakfasts, they're big! I highly recommend the herb butters the owner makes. She serves it in a bright, airy dining room filled with bits of Biedermeier furniture and decorations. It's a very pleasant way to start the day.
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
