""The Islands" region intro" Province of British Columbia Favorite Tip by sunnywong

Province of British Columbia General: 39 reviews and 43 photos

Favorite thing: Journey into Northern Vancouver Island and discover its untouched, rugged wilderness. Battle the wild salmon in a grueling tug-of-war. Pack your camera and attempt to capture the majestic black bear, Roosevelt elk, or bald eagle in their natural habitat. Delve into the Kwakwaka'wakw culture. Hear their stories and songs, and watch as they dance and create some of the world's most beautiful art.

Vancouver Island can be reached via ferry from Bella Coola, Prince Rupert, Powell River, Vancouver, Seattle, Port Angeles, and Anacortes. Commercial airlines fly into Victoria, Nanaimo, Courtenay, Campbell River, and Port Hardy. Small airplanes and floatplanes can be chartered to fly into almost all areas on the Island.
