Alaska Things to Do: 495 reviews and 833 photos

Everyone that goes to Alaska should most certainly go to Denali National Park.
Mt. McKinley (Denali to the native Indians) is a 20,000 ft peak rising out of a 2,000 ft plateau. That's a lot of mountain. Wilderness experience there for the taking. Prime grizzly, moose, and caribou habitat.

Directions: On route 3 right between Anchorage and Fairbanks. You leave you car behind and must travel by shuttle bus in the park.
othercontact: Reserve camping and shuttles by

An incredible park but it takes time to really see so make sure to allow yourself plenty of it.

If we were to go to Alaska, we'd combine it with northern Canada and at least stay for 5 weeks ... That's still not much time, but between work and the kids' school that's all we can manage ... So I guess we'll have some decisions to make on what to do :-)
