The 139-year old Singapore Botanic Gardens spans over 52 hectares and displays an array of botanical and horticultural attractions with a rich history and a wonderful plant collection. There are three major parts to the gardens, The Tanglin zone, Central zone and the Bukit Timah zone. When I first lived in Singapore, the gardens were very close to where I was working (off the top end of Orchard Road ? Tanglin Zone) and I would sometimes drive there in my lunch break and just wander around absorbing the tranquillity, away from the hustle and bustle. It was quieter during the week and sometimes you would see the odd wedding party having their photos taken there.

Hours: 5.00 am to 12 midnight. Admission to the Botanic Gardens is free.

Address: Top end of Orchard Road/Bukit Timah Road
Directions: Public buses to the Gardens are SBS 7, 77, 105, 106, 123, 174, TIBS 75 and CSS 2 along Holland Road, SBS 66, 67, 151, 153, 154, 156, 170, 171, 186 and TIBS 182 along Bukit Timah Road.
