Portsmouth is like the Seattle of New England when it comes to coffee houses. For being such a small town, they have a ton of coffee shops.

My personal favorite is this Turkish coffee house called Caffe Kilim...they serve up the rich, dark, high octane coffees that I love in a simple laid atmosphere (i.e., non-pretentious and extremely un-Starbucks like)... Long benches with big fluffy pillows line the walls, while photographs, posters and post cards from Turkey (and other places) hang on the walls. With all the photos of far away lands, it's a perfect place to dream up your next trip...
