My favorite restaurant for real Philadelphia food is right on South Street. I'm not even sure this place has a name. Any way, the restaurant is right under Ruby Tuesday's (huge, happening bar on S. Street) in between a GNC diet/ fitness store and a travel agency. It looks like a hole in the wall and probably is but they have the best pizza and cheese steaks in the world (especially after you've had a few too many and need to fill your stomach).
The unique quality to my favorite restaurant is the bathroom. I wouldn't recommend using it but peek your head inside and admire the artwork that has accumulated on the walls over the past 20 years. A cheese steak hoagie consists of a white bread roll (submarine style), Steak-Um's type meat (very thin slices of steak for those not familiar w/ Steak Um's), your choice of cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo (optional), and whatever else you want on it. Trust me, if you get someone to make it that knows what they are doing it's heaven.
Directions: The restaurant is on South Street under Ruby Tuesday's. If you find South Street you will have no problem finding Ruby Tuesday's - once you get in front of Tuesday's go down the steps and you'll be ri
