1. don't park your car in a place where it is not allowed or when you doubt if it may be done. Pay enough parkingmoney in the machines. Penalties are huge and not often your car will be towed.
2. don't get tricked by beggars that tell some very dramatic story (last time someone told me he got lost from France, wanted to go to the English embassy, lost all his luggage and had only some German Marks that he wanted to change in Dutch money - he spook however in perfect Dutch). Stay friendly, but do not give money or even take your purse from your pocket/bag.
