Isle of Arran

There are many islands off the west coast of Scotland - some famous , some not so famous. The Isle of Arran is not in the Highlands and is therefore often overlooked as a destination. However, it is a good place to visit - take the train from Glasgow Central (or drive of course) to Ardrossan which is SW of Glasgow and catch the ferry to the island's main town - Brodick. Once there why not climb Goat Fell the highest peak on the island, visit Brodick Castle and Gardens or just tour round the island stopping at the many little villages such as Lamlasg, Lochranza and Whiting Bay. See the picturesque ruin of the castle on the bay in Lochranza, visit the Moor Stone Circle at Machrie, do some outdoor sports and just enjoy island life!
