"The Mosquito Bay is a..." Puerto Rico Things to Do Tip by diver-x

Puerto Rico Things to Do: 291 reviews and 434 photos

The Mosquito Bay is a bioluminescent bay on the island of Vieques, off the east end of Puerto Rico. There are tiny plankton in the water that light up when disturbed. At night, you can see the trails of fish as they swim. Your boat and your body will also light up the water as you move through it. We took a night kayak tour through the only dive shop in Esperanza (sorry, the name escapes me), which was fantastic! We were able to hop off our kayaks into the water to create our own light show.

The bio-bay is indescribable! You have to see it for yourself!
