When travelling around the coast of France, and you need somewhere for a 'pique-nique' look out for the signs in the villages directing you to 'La plage'. You will be taken through tiny back streets to the local beach, generally deserted but usually with a picnic table and some shade. Here you can enjoy a relaxing hour or two.
The locals will arrive at about 4.45pm with their surf boards, sun lotions etc....
