Central Park, New York City: 406 reviews and 745 photos

Central Park opened in 1876. The 843 acres site used to be a swamp, and the conversion into a park took 20 years. It is designed in a Romantic Style with lakes, ponds, hills and rocky crags. More than 500 000 trees and shrubs have been planted to offer a landscape of a great scenic beauty, with open space and meadows, bridle paths and carriage drives.
