"Central Park" Central Park Tip by miromi

Central Park, New York City: 406 reviews and 745 photos

Everyone from all parts of the city come to Central Park on the weekends. It's so big and has so many things in it that you can get lost there for days and days. I have some very fond memories of watching the sun rise over the Bethesda Fountain angel, and myself sitting completely wasted by content with several friends on the mushroom at the Alice in Wonderland Statue; or dancing along to the house music roller disco they have set up on weekends. You can have a drunken rowboat race through the pond, but if you're too loud a Canadian mounty-style New York cop on horseback will gallop out of the Ramble and scream at you! Don't neglect the north side of the park (by Harlem)--it's good for mountain climbing and duck watching! I danced around a Maypole here with a couple hundred pagans--there are all sorts of crazy religious happenings on the great hill. You should try to watch out for the honorable Mr. Thoth (pictured here) who gives his spiritual channeling performances by the bethesda fountain.
