"Watch out for mosquitos!" Thailand Warnings Or Dangers Tip by jrs1234
Thailand Warnings and Dangers: 218 reviews and 111 photos
Mosquitos! Outside of Bangkok, take the usual precautions - the good news is that except in some border areas (next to Burma and Cambodia especially), malaria is rare - see the US Center for Disease Control's webpage at -
for more details on this. If you get bitten, be sure to buy some Tiger Balm (available all over Thailand) which is really good at making the bites go down - it works for me!
However, you do also need to be aware of Dengue fever. This is potentially fatal and there is no vaccine; it's spread by mosquitos, and the best advice is not to get bitten. The good news is that away from border areas, as with malaria, this disease is rarely seen. For more information on this disease, try this detailed page at the US CDC site -
or this more readable page at CNN Health -
