Trattoria da Rocco. Situated in the San Ambrogia Mercato, this is a most unusual place. We told the guide to take us to where he usually ate lunch. this was it.
This glass enclosed eatery had tables along both long walls with doors opening into each table, similar to a British railroad car. Down the center was an aisle for the waiters. At one end was the open kitchen. At the other end was the open wine cellar.
When diners finished eating, they exited their door. We slid in to our table as the waiter was cleaning it from the center aisle. Our driver translated the menu for us, and we ordered. the wine flowed like water, and the food was delicious. Furthermore, it was INEXPENSIVE
