  Millenium Bridge
by cheekymarieh

Newcastle lies on the River Tyne in the north of England. It is a large and growing city. Much of the city riverside has been improved and in the process has become a trendy area to live, eat and drink. The city had a strong industrial past with the main industry being shipbuilding on the banks of the River Tyne.

The main landmarks within the city are:
- the new Millenium Bridge
- the Tyne Bridge
- the castle
- Chinatown
- Eldon Square shopping centre
- the Museum of Life which is the perfect spot for those who like exhibiotions where they can participate.

... and just across the water in neighbouring Gatehead in the Baltic Centre (a modern art centre in a former flour mill).

Directions: By air to airport
By rail from London Kings Cross, the southwest, the Midlands, Scotland and the north west.
By road up the A1 or the A19.
