""Hof" Square and "Porticus"" Hof - Square Tip by TinyTuck

Hof - Square, Aachen: 3 reviews and 5 photos

by TinyTuck

The Hof is a trianglular square, which is due to the different orientations of Roman and Frank constructions, the Romans building their streets from North to South (or from South to North), later the Franks in East-West direccion.
The Roman columns, called "Portikus", are also a reminder of old Roman times, however those are only reconstructions, the original columns now belonging to a museum.
Nowadays the "Hof" is surrounded by a variety of little cafés and restaurants and turns quite lively durig summer time.
