The Windermere Steamboat Museum was built between 1976-77 and is situated on a former sand wharf site. For a number of years, this wharf was used for unloading barges of gravel which was dredged from the bottom of the lake. The Maritime Trust and English Tourist Board built the museum and has on display Windermere speed craft and Beatrix Potter`s rowing boat. There is a particular area which assigned to the Swallows & Amazons` Exhibition.

Open daily from mid March to beginning of November 10.00am - 5.00pm.

Address: Rayrigg Road, Windermere
