"more on Taxis" Taxis Tip by Skye_Miles

Taxis, Puerto Vallarta: 16 reviews and 6 photos

Taxis are available 24 hours a day so not to worry if you are out at a disco, realize it is 5am and wondor how you will get back to your hotel. The prices for the taxis are set by zones so it depends on how many zones you cross over as to the cost. Bellboys always know the CORRECT charge from Point A to Point B and also, most hotels have the prices posted in the lobby. A minimum charge will be 20 pesos. Four people per taxi and price is per taxi, not per person. In Nuevo Vallarta there are numerous suburban taxis but not in Puerto Vallarta. There is only one taxi company in Puerto Vallarta and they are all yellow taxis. Always make sure you know the price of the taxi before you take off. I would not recommend tipping a taxi driver unless he goes above and beyond the call of duty (assisting with bags, waiting-and-or-stopping for you.) Their prices increase continually so no need to tip. It is important to remember that the price FROM the airport to your hotel will be more than when you return to the airport. This is because these taxis, the airport taxis, are in a FEDERAL zone, thus higher prices. I encourage tipping airport taxi drivers. They are much more helpful with luggage and information than the yellow taxis. The white taxis in the marina are also higher - this too is a federal zone.
