"Interior of the cathedral" Cuenca Things to Do Tip by DanielF

Cuenca Things to Do: 127 reviews and 266 photos

Cuenca's cathedral is the only sample of Norman Gothic art that can be found in the Iberian Peninsula. In fact, this is the first Gothic cathedral that was built in Castille, a short time after the city was released from the Moors. The construction of the cathedral did not take a long time, around 60 years, which gave a great harmony to the ensemble.

The decoration, however has been very transformed in the course of time, and it is predominantly Barroque. The exterior of the cathedral has suffered also from several interventions along the centuries.
