"Jurong Bird Park" Singapore Things to Do Tip by DesertRat

Singapore Things to Do: 1,995 reviews and 3,531 photos

For anyone with even the most cursory interest in bird life, Jurong Bird Park is a revelation. Nowhere else in the world will you find its equal, though it does concentrate on the birds of Southeast Asia. That said, as I recall, it exhibits some 5,000 different species. The best part of it is the aviary built for small birds. It was built in a sort of mini-canyon -- which is probably artificial, actually -- so that when you walk in, you discover you are in what amounts to a cross-section of a rainforest. A trail wanders through in such a fashion that you can observe birds that live in the top, middle, and ground levels of the forest. Quite extraordinary. The only other aviary I've seen which comes even close is the Snowdon Aviary at the London Zoo.
