There are plenty of nice and very good museums in Mexico. If there is one that you absolutely have to visit, it's the Museo de Antropología!
The building on itself is really nice. There's a huge fountain on the patio in the shape of an umbrella. All the rooms are build around the patio. You can find just about anything about the different precolumbian cultures. In the Aztec room, you can find a big round stone with a hole in the middle: this is the Aztec calender. Very impressive!

I am very passionate about all these precolombian cultures. I even dedicated my thesis to it. But I can imagine there are a lot of people who don't like history very much. I can tell you then not to visit the museum with someone who is a history freak because you can very easily spend an entire day in the Museo de Antropoligía.
