"Chicago is getting safer and..." Common Sense Advice / Sketchy Neighborhoods Tip by Moondrop72

Chicago is getting safer and safer. The old idea of gangsters and corruption is fading. However, Chicago does have a distinct crime element but you should be safe as long as you use common sense.

In Chicago neighborhoods, one street can be safe and the next a gang zone. If it looks bad, don't go there. A general rule is the south and near west side are rough, but there are some great places to visit. The downtown areas, the loop, Michigan Avenue are generally safe but exercise caution late at night and on weekends in the business/loop district.
