"York Castle Museum" Castle Museum Tip by sambarnett

Castle Museum, York: 40 reviews and 80 photos

The York Castle Museum is an excellent social history museum, one of the best I've ever seen in fact, that details 400 years of history in Yorkshire. The life size reconstructions of Victorian and Edwardian streets are quite convincing and the numerous displays detailing everyday life in the region are really facinating. Also interesting is the cell famous highway brigand Dick Turpin slept in the night before his execution.
The museum is housed in two former prison buildings, contructed in 1701-05.

Address: Right near Clifford's Tower.
