"Indians won't give you..." Arizona Tourist Trap Tip by tarim

Arizona Tourist Traps: 27 reviews and 14 photos

Indians won't give you anything for free, no view on a simple rock and they are at every parking lodge to cash for their handmade souvenirs. At first I thought it's ok that they make money out of their land but if you have to struggle through a whole flea market to get to the vista point it's losing its charme.

I agree. This is one of the annoyances of traveling through this part of the world. The Indian lands are interesting, but they charge for EVERYTHING. They invite tourists to their pueblos, than make you pay for photo permit. In some places you even have to pay to paint the landscape, or use binoculars. That's just ridiculous. I've had to miss out on a lot of interesting things in the southwest, because of this.
And I agree that sometimes they block the view, and one time they tried to take $20 from us, for an item that only cost 3. That's not right.
