"Martin Park Nature..." Oklahoma City Off The Beaten Path Tip by WFTR

Martin Park Nature Center
Martin Park Nature Center is located in the extreme northwest part of the city just west of Mercy Hospital. The center consisted of several acres of creek, field, and woods and featured a nature center and a few miles of trails. Martin Park will never be on anyone's top ten list of great outdoor destinations, but it's a good little park. The rangers are knowledgable and helpful, and the exhibits in the nature center are well done. The hiking trails are not breathtaking but they are a fun place to get outside and see something other than the four walls of one'a apartment or house. The creek cuts through the land exposing the bright red Oklahoma clay. For those who have never been somewhere where dirt is red, it's an interesting site. Another fun part of visiting Martin Park is a bird-viewing area. I took a photo of a chickadee there and have posted it on my personal pages at Chickadee. I also have a link to the nature center's homepage on my page.
