Inside the very new and modern ubahn (U3 only)

There are only five underground (Ubahn) lines in Vienna and its easy to find your way around. The Ubahn starts at around 5 in the morning and ends just after midnight. On the platform the new electronic display signs will tell your destination and how many minutes you have to wait - an asterisk indicates that the train is approaching. Kurzzug means a shorter train and is seen mostly late in the evening and on Sundays. Sonderzug means that the train is not taking passengers so please stand back even if it stops in the station. Some stations have information screens with latest news updates and the weather. Most interesting stations: Stefansplatz: check out the underground church, Museumsquartier:look at the pictures, Karlsplatz: for pizza and some of the cheapest and best sushi in town, Stubentor and Simmering: historical information. In need of some exercise? Try walking the escalator from U1 Karlsplatz up to the Oper!
