"Packing List" New York City Packing List Tip by greencard
New York City What to Pack: 156 reviews and 81 photos
Luggage and bags: Whatever you bring to wear, for walking around the city I found the best to have a small backpack or a messenger bag. It's easy to keep close to you, you don't have to stuff your pockets with things, and it can comfortably hold your guide, money, snacks, and most importantly a water bottle or two. You will need these, especially if you're there in July. It wouldn't be a bad idea to take an umbrella as well, just in case.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Wear whatever shoes you're the most comfortable walking in.
Photo Equipment: We took our digital camera and fared well with it. Just make sure you've charged it before you left. If you're charging it in your hotel, check that the outlet isn't on the same circuit as the light switch! This will cut off electricity to the charger when you kill the lights to go to sleep.
