Italy Off The Beaten Path: 430 reviews and 602 photos

Finale Liguria located on the Italian Riviara is not as well known as some of the other resort towns, but it offers a great mix of sandy beachs, seaside resort and an old town, tucked between two hills. When I visited the crowds were minimal and it was possible to find plenty of open beach space (if it is full, walk to the south end of town and through the tunnel...this can be a bit nerve racking as cars speed through the tunnel...but the reward is a beach that has very few people, great sand and some rocks for shade. I would also suggest walking into old town. Cross under the railroad and follow the main road up the valley. The old town still has its town walls and narrow streets. The main square has a great resturants. If you feel like a hike, head through old town to the far side and hike up the hill. There you will find a trail that heads higher up the hill to and ruins of an old castle. It is quite a hike and it can be confusing but it gives you a great view back out the valley and to the beach town, plus walking around the old ruins is a uniqe adventure.
