"The hill towns of Umbria." Italy Things to Do Tip by AgentJX

Italy Things to Do: 1,470 reviews and 2,257 photos

Each of these towns is loaded with history, art, amazing churches, great food and countless other adventures. Not to mention that they are in some of the most beautiful countryside I have ever seen.
Gubbio: Is a small hill town that has a festival (which I stubbled across when visiting) in which the locals spend all morning preparing flower petals and outlining designs on the streets. Then they lay the flowers on the streets. It was amazing. Unfortunatly I don't recall the name of the festival or the exact date (though it was in mid-June)
Assisi: Highlighted by the church built for St. Francis of Assisi this is a must see. The duomo has three levels of churchs, with the tomb of St. Francsis in the lowest level. The contrast between the extravagent upper church and the plain lower church shows is very drastic, and the simple church highlights the philosophy of St. Francis.
These are two of the towns that I remember the best, but every single one has a unique character that is worth exploring.
