This is an icecap and volcano where, according to Jules Verne, ?The Journey to Center of the Earth? began. We chose south slope to climb. We passed several moraines and then climbed on ice. The weather condition was pretty good and we reach the top without any problems. But we didn?t find an entrance to center of the earth. Mostly because the peak was in clouds and we didn?t see much here. But next time?who knows. You can climb Sneafellsnesj÷kull with a guide too and I know there are three routes use by them. If you are alone or you are a group without some experience I suggest that way.

Picture: On the way to the top.

Location: Sneafellsnes Peninsula ? West Iceland
