"Don't forget the baksheesh, the tip!" Egypt Local Custom Tip by AR76

Egypt Local Customs: 223 reviews and 149 photos

The tip, baksheesh in arabic, is an important part of everyday life in Egypt. You're expected to tip practically anyone who helped/served you: from the hotel clerk to the taxi driver, in shops and restaurants, and even the guy or girl that hands you a few sheets of toilet paper when you go to the bathroom. For many people, the baksheesh is part of their income, and not an extra, like in Western countries.
