Asturias has some of the oldest ruins in all of Spain, some of which are in Oviedo. These include, but are not limited to 3 which are located on MONTE DE NARANCO just a few kilometers outside of the main city: SANTA MARIA DEL NARANCO, SAN MIGUEL DE LILLO and SANTA CRISTINA DE LENA. All 3 were built in the pre-romanesque period of Ramiro I (842-850). All are within a few meters of each other and can be viewed for a small donation equivalent to about one dollar US. You can't miss this site!
Aside from this being a very interesting site in-of-itself, it offers a nice vista of Oviedo for photographs.
