"SUBWAY!!! Taxis are a fortune,..." Subway Tip by Trotsky

Subway, New York City: 337 reviews and 299 photos

SUBWAY!!! Taxis are a fortune, buses take forever, and driving a car can be suicidal. The subway is quick and goes anywhere you'll need to go. Just get a free map from a token booth and/or ask for directions. Most people are friendly and will help (unless it's during rush hour, when it's every man and woman for his/herself). Recently there has been major construction on the subway lines and many lines have changed names and stops. The subway is relatively safe. Just use common sense. Don't walk with your camera around your neck in a deserted station at 3am! *Travelling above 96th St. on the east side and 120th St. on the west side might be dangerous at night but during the day you'll be fine.
