Generally speaking, you will probably be eating in a Taberna, which seemed to be a combination of eating and drinking establishment, some of which made mean espresso as well. Overall there seemed to be two types, one with the rotisserie meats and one for seafood. We spent more time in the latter.

Favorite Dish: Calamari was consistently good across many different restaurants. Grilled octopus was common cheap and good as well, especially in the islan ds but also in the seafood tabernas of Athens. I tried a gyro to compare and it was good as well. On the down side I had to say I wasn't too fond of their country sausages, which had a distinct and pleasant taste, but consistently had big chunks of fat. Just not to my taste.
